African Drum Hardcover

African Drum Hardcover

The first editions of “the African Drum “ were distinctly different from the magazine that was to develop once Jim Bailey took over control of the publication from it’s founder Bob Crisp. With Anthony Sampson as editor, the magazine shifted from a well meaning, dry, liberal publication to become the thriving cultural mouthpiece for the newly urbanised black South African and later, as it spread through Anglophone Africa, it recorded in its unique fashion, the vibrancy that Independence brought to the continent.
